Army Top Brass Brief J&K Governor on Security Situation
Army top brass today briefed the Governor N N Vohra on the overall security situation, particularly along the international border in Jammu region.
Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra, GOC-in-C, Western Command; Lt Gen Anil Bhalla, GOC, 9 Corps; and Maj Gen Ashwani Kumar,
GOC, 26 Infantry Div, called on the Governor in Raj Bhavan, here today.
During the meeting, Vora discussed several important issues relating to external security management in the region with Lt Gen
Chachra, Raj Bhawan spokesman said.
The Governor also discussed the certain long pending land issues, particularly the relocation of the Army Transit Camp, which is blocking the infrastructure development of the Jammu University.
General Chachra agreed that the issue will be urgently reviewed and the Western Army-Civil Liaison Meetings will now be held at regular intervals to ensure against matters of mutual interest remaining unduly pending.
