The state government today gave in to opposition demand for debate on the issues of terrorism, communalism and Naxalism and conditions of minorities to clear decks for resumption of normal business in the legislative assembly which passed two legislations in the post-lunch sitting.
On the second day of the winter session, Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary held the business advisory committee meeting in his chamber during lunch hour where it was agreed upon by the ruling and opposition leaders that a debate will take place in the house on the issues of terrorism, communalism and Naxalism in Bihar.
The business advisory committee also agreed for a debate on the deteriorating socio-economic condition of the Muslims in Bihar.
After the house re-assembled for business in the post-lunch session, Speaker announced that a debate will take place on issues arising out of terrorism, communalism and Naxal violence in Bihar house will discuss under Rule 43 of Rules and Procedures of the house tomorrow afternoon after discharge of legislative business.
Chaudhary further announced that the house will also debate on socio-economic condition of the Muslims in Bihar on December 13, a demand that the opposition RJD members had voiced earlier.
The RJD legislative party leader Abdul Bari Siddique later demanded a statement from the state government an lathicharge on girl students of a college in the state capital yesterday which found support from the Leader of Opposition Nandkishore Yadav to which the Speaker agreed after the Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary stood up to express the state government's willingness to do so.
The speaker subsequently ruled that the state government will make a statement in the house tomorrow on the lathicharge on protesting girls students of a college.
The house later discussed and passed two legislations before the Speaker adjourned the house till tomorrow.
Earlier in the day, the opposition BJP and RJD forced suspension of business in the legislative assembly by demanding acceptance of their adjournment motion on the terror attack in the state capital during the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's public meeting on October 27 last as well as deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar.
The opposition members trooped into the well of the house and raised slogans against the state government after the speaker rejected their adjournment motion on terror attack and law and order situation.
The pandemonium prompted the Speaker to first adjourn the house till 12:30 PM and then to 2 PM after the opposition members persisted with their demand.
The house had witnessed ruckus yesterday too on the same issues washing out any business throughout the day.
