The condition of senior Congress leader V C Shukla, who was injured after Maoists ambushed a convoy of party leaders in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district, was today critical, according to doctors treating him.
84-year-old Shukla was airlifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon from Raipur early this morning.

The former union minister yesterday underwent an operation in Jagdalpur hospital for removal of three bullets he had received in the attack.
Heavily-armed Maoists ambushed a convoy of Congress leaders in Chattisgarh's Bastar district yesterday, killing 27 people including senior Congress leader Mahendra Karma, and injuring Shukla and 31 others.
"The condition of V C Shukla is very critical but stable," Medanta spokesperson Dr A K Dubey told reporters.
He said the senior Congress leader has several wounds on his body.
A panel of doctors has been formed to look after him, Dubey said.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit visited the hospital to enquire about Shukla's condition.
