Punjab: Maruti Suzuki Adopts Five ITIs
Country's leading car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) today adopted five industrial training institutes of Punjab.

The Technical Education Department, Punjab today signed a memorandum of understanding with the MSIL for the upgradation of technical education institutes in the state, an official release said here.

The MoU was signed by B Purushartha, Director Technical Education on behalf of the Punjab Government, whereas Rajesh Uppal, Executive Director of MSIL signed the agreement on behalf of his company.

As per the agreement, MSIL has adopted five ITIs of Amritsar, Bassi Pathana, Pathankot, Malerkotla and Nabha.

These ITIs were adopted in private public participation (PPP) mode with the objective to train and create a pool of employable youth for the automobile and allied industries.

Over 2,000 youngsters in the Punjab region are expected to directly benefit through this initiative, the release said.

Uppal said both the sides would develop the plan for ITIs, defining the long-term goals of the institutes besides chalking out the strategies for dealing the challenges faced by institutes.
