In the backdrop of DMK withdrawing support to UPA, BJP today said it has no plans to bring a no-confidence motion in Parliament against the government.

"There is no need for it. The government has lost people's trust. It will fall on its own," BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here when asked whether his party was planning to bring a no-confidence motion.

He said the Congress-led UPA government was surviving on borrowed support and its continuation was not in the interest of the nation.

"Continuation of this government is not in the interest of the nation. This government, which is trying to survive on borrowed support from here and there, is definitely not in the interest of the country," Naqvi said.

BJP president Rajnath Singh also said that "there is no need to bring a no-confidence motion. This government will fall on its own as UPA allies are withdrawing their support one by one."

Singh earlier participated at the farmers' protest at Jantar Mantar where he assured the farmers that their demands, including bringing in crop insurance, would be met once BJP came to power.

The BJP chief alleged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh did not even bother to enquire why farmers were protesting in the national capital for the past three days.

He said farmers were the biggest strength of the nation and no government should challenge it. He said India cannot progress fast unless farmers progressed.

DMK had yesterday withdrawn support to the UPA government over the Lankan Tamils issue.

On the Lankan issue, party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "When the unrest was brewing in Sri Lanka, why did not the government take a stand then for ensuring peace. Now it (the government) is unclear about what to do."

The government which has "ushered in a policy paralysis is now a paralysed government itself," he told reporters outside Parliament House.

"This government is having a magnificent certificate in managing CBI, Enforcement Directorate...Today I am more concerned about the country and less about the government," he said.
