Thane: 8-Year-Old Donates Savings for Drought Fund
In a touching gesture, an 8-year-old boy from Thane district decided to skip his birthday party and donate his savings and celebration expenses to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund in view of the state reeling under severe drought.

On the occasion of his birthday yesterday, Kanishk Raju Dongre, who studies in class II of Caramal School at Badlapur township in Thane district, went to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan's office at Mantralaya in Mumbai and contributed Rs 5,000 to the relief fund, an official release from the Maharashtra government said.

He was accompanied by his mother and father, who is a photographer.

The young boy donated the savings, which he had made by collecting money from his parents from time-to-time.

Chavan lauded the gesture of the boy to forego his birthday celebrations and instead donate the money to the CM's fund.

He also appreciated the boy's awareness and concern for the cause and said this would set an example for the people in the society.
