Ex-Karnataka PCC Member Serves Legal Notice to Modi
A local Congress leader has served a legal notice to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi asking him to apologise and withdraw his remarks calling Prime Minister Manmohan Singh a "night watchman" of Gandhi family.

"... Modi should do it (apologise or withdraw remarks) within three days of receipt of the notice... Failing which I will file a private complaint against him before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate here for offence of defamation," K K Benson, a former Pradesh Congress Member, said.

In the legal notice released to the media here, Benson said by calling Singh night watchman, Modi has "insulted, degraded and defamed" in public the image and good reputation of Prime Minister's post.

Without naming Manmohan Singh, Modi on March 3 had said the Congress appointed a "night watchman" to keep the seat warm for the first family of the Congress. "They did not realise that the night will be so long and dark. As a buffer, they appointed an economist to the post," he said.

Night watchman is perfect description of MMS. MMS is current PM, but Congressmen are only talking about Rahul as PM for next election. That would be an insult to MMS unless he is there just to warm the seat. It is no different than when night watchman comes to bat before the established batsmen just to see out the overs till end of the day. In the end of the day analysis, the people analyse and talk about the established batsmen and how they need to perform to make a good score. Night watchman never features in the discussion.

>> Trying to make Modi more civil is a hopeless task

If you think Benson is trying to make Modi more civil, you are a bigger idiot than Katju.

You can compete with the resident secular for the role of the village idiot.

So, these Congitards have objection to MMS being called a 'night-watchman', but are perfectly okay with the insinuation that he is indeed keeping the seat warm for the Yuvaraaj.
