A man was today arrested for allegedly molesting his teenaged step-daughter here, police said.

The accused, Raees Khan (30), a daily wager, used to molest his 14-year-old step daughter at their house in Azad Nagar area here when the victim's mother used to go out for some work, said Sanyogitaganj police inspector Shyam Babu Sharma, who is the investigating officer in the case.

Khan had also threatened the girl with dire consequences if she revealed about the crime to anyone, he said.

Unable to bear the trauma, the girl informed her mother about it, who then filed a police complaint this morning following which Khan was arrested.

The girl has been sent for medical examination, Sharma said.

The accused has been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation) and relevant sections of the Child Sexual Exploitation Act, he added.

Khan was later produced before the chief judicial magistrate court which sent him to jail.

Haryana

A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by three persons after being abducted by her neighbour in a village here.

In her complaint, victim's mother accused his neighbour Sonu of forcibly taking her 17-year-old daughter to a nearby house in Kariwala area last night, where she was raped by him and two others, police said.

Girl's medical examination has confirmed rape, they said, adding that a case of rape and abduction has been lodged and efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused.

New Delhi

Two cases of rape, including that of a minor, have surfaced in the capital in the last couple of days, police said today.

A 20-year-old woman was raped allegedly by three men in south Delhi's Vasant Vihar area on Tuesday night, they said, adding that the trio were arrested.

The victim, who works in a bar, was abducted on her way back home by the three men who later raped her.

The trio were produced before a court which sent them to 14 days judicial custody.

In the second incident, a minor girl was raped in Prahladpur yesterday. The accused is absconding.

Uttar Pradesh

A five-year-old girl succumbed to her internal injuries today after she was raped allegedly by her neighbour.

The child was raped by the neighbour, Bablu, who lured her on the pretext of giving her a toffee during a marriage ceremony in Naukhel locality last night, they said.

Bablu fled when the girl started crying.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, which referred her to the Aligarh Medical College where she passed away today, police said.

An FIR has been lodged against the accused and efforts are on to nab him.

In another incident, a man was arrested on the charge of raping a girl after enticing her with the promise of marriage.

As per the rape case registered at Dankaur Police station, a girl was recovered from Ghaziabad after she had gone missing around one and half month ago.

A man had enticed her promising marriage and the girl, in her complaint, told the police about sexual assault.

Police had sent her for medical examination and sexual assault was confirmed in the medical report today.

The accused identified as Mukesh has been arrested, police said.

Uttarakhand

Police are looking for a Zila Panchayat driver who has been accused of raping and a woman for more than a year besides making her indecent photos.

A case has been lodged against the driver under IPC, SC/ST Act and Information Technology Act act following a complaint by a woman who is a former Zila Panchayat Chairperson, said S K Singh, Circle Officer of Pithoragarh police.

The woman, who was elected as Pithoragarh Zila Panchayat chief as a BJP candidate in mid-2008, remained in her post till a no-confidence motion was passed against her by panchayat members 30 months after her being elected to the post.

According to the police, the former Zila panchayat chief alleged the driver has exploited her physically for more than one year promising to marry her and when she insisted on the marriage, he refused to do so on caste ground.

She also alleged she was physically exploited after being served toxic medicines by the driver who also made her nude clippings and tried to blackmail her for not insisting for marriage, said the police.
