Couple Thrown Out of Train: Constable Surrenders in Court

A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable was today sent to 14 days of judicial custody by a local court here in connection with throwing a couple out of the Shatabdi Express train, in which the woman died.

The accused constable Subhash, who surrendered before the court, has been sent to judicial custody of fourteen days up to March 18 by Chief Judicial Magistrate Vishwanath here, officials said.

The other accused Sub Inspector Ramchander of RPF is still absconding.

Santosh and her husband Rajeshwar Dutt Tyagi, who had purchased general class tickets, inadvertently boarded the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express, and were allegedly pushed out of the train by two RPF personnel on duty, after heated arguments on Feb 27.

The woman had died on the spot. The husband was, however, escaped unhurt.

After the incident, Rajeshwar filed a complaint at the Government Railway Police Station here. On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered under section 304 of IPC (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) against RPF Sub-Inspector Ramchander and Constable Subhash.
