Facing stinging criticism over the murder of a DSP, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today assured the wife of the slain officer that his government would
recommend a CBI probe into the killing.
Akhilesh, who arrived at the native village of DSP Zia-ul-Haq amid anti-government slogans, assured his wife Praveen Azad that stern action would be taken against those found involved in the murder.

Rajya Bhaiya quit as Cabinet minister today after his name cropped up in the police officer's murder.
Praveen told Akhilesh that Haq was facing pressure as he was inquiring into a case of arson in which Raja Bhaiya's men were involved.
She said Haq was to submit his report into the case before a court on March 12 and there was pressure on him to change it.
The Chief Minister handed over two cheques of Rs 25 lakh each to the widow and the father of Haq and promised proper security to the family besides appointment of two family members on gazetted posts.
