Two hardcore Maoists were arrested today and arms and explosives recovered from them in an hideout under Rajpur police station area in Bihar's Rohtas district, a police officer said.
Acting on a tip off, the police raided the hideout in Rajpur market and arrested two Maoists, identified as Umesh Singh and Sriram Thakur, and seized three cane bombs and 20 kg explosive powder, Superintendent of Police (SP) Manu Maharaj said.
The ultras, associates of an incarcerated Maoist cadre Rajesh Sharma alias Tufani, had planned to use explosives to ambush a police party, he said.
The Maoists duo were being interrogated, Maharaj said.
