JPC on VVIP Chopper Deal Not Advisable: BJP
BJP today virtually rejected the government's proposal for setting up a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the VVIP helicopter deal, saying the move was aimed at scuttling the probe as current Lok Sabha's term will end next year.

Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha told reporters here that the party favours a serious and thorough probe into the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland helicopter contract and wanted the investigation to be monitored by a court.

BJP is expected to raise the issue in Rajya Sabha today.

Asked about the party's view on the government's offer to form a JPC to probe the issue, Sinha said, "I don't think a JPC is advisable at this point of time because the Lok Sabha term will end in about a year's time and as we know JPCs take longer. So this is a counsel for scuttling the probe."

BJP has emphasised that a time-bound CBI probe monitored by the Supreme Court is needed on the issue. It has also demanded that the names of the recipients of the alleged kickbacks in the deal should be revealed.

At the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting today morning, the main opposition also decided to flag during the Budget Session the issues of Sethusamudram project and the violence against tribals in Assam.

"We will raise the Ram Setu issue and the violence against tribals of Assam in both Houses of Parliament. BJP will not tolerate any tampering with the Ram Setu (Adam's bridge). If required, we will go for an agitation on it," BJP Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde told reporters.

BJP has demanded that the government should abandon the Sethusamudram project as it would lead to cutting into mythological Ram Setu.

www.sunday-guardian.com/news/cbi-i-t-yet-to-question-tyagis-in-agusta-case

''Retired Indian Police Service officer Joginder Singh, who was the director of the agency, said that he was not too hopeful of the CBI solving the case. "History has shown that the agency has not been able to crack any defence related cases. You can see the status of defence cases like the coffin scam, Tatra-BEML deal, etc. Nothing has been achieved. By sending a team to Italy the agency has just completed a formality."

The Central Bureau of Investigation has done nothing to question the Indian nationals named in the charge sheet filed by Italian agencies in the Agusta Westland helicopter scam, even though it has been over ten days that the Ministry of Defence has asked it to initiate the probe. The suspects, principally the Tyagi brothers, and their relative Shashindra Pal Tyagi, former Air chief, are in Chandigarh and Delhi. If they were interrogated, they would reveal the truth about who received the bribe money and how.

As for the Income Tax department, it seems to have been shocked into inaction after the revelation of the alleged bribe.
Interestingly, the annual scrutiny by the Income Tax department of the Chandigarh-based companies IDS Infotech and Aeromatrix, who supplied "software" to Agusta Westland, appears to have missed the suspect transactions meant to bring the bribe money to India.''

BJP not wanting a JPC??? Does anyone smell a rat "

1.Congress has openly declared that it will not ask CBI to file an FIR .

Without FIR neither Italy Police or UK Police or Interpol can co-operated with our CBI .Because that will be illegal for to pass on any information to India when no FUR exists .

2. Congress just wants to follow the JPC route after tasting the success it has side tracked 2G .Hence a repeat again .

It was stupid of BJP and oppostion to close Parliament for full session when Sc had taken up the 2 G scam under its wings.

Now in Coptergate if  once JPC takes over then option of SC to order any inquire from CBI under its control is foreclosed ..

3.Once FIR is lodged & since Tayagies are reported to be bribe takers in Italian FIR they will be first to be arrested .
And they will be first one to spill the details .
Interestingly the Tayagi nephews of Marshal Tayagi have disappeared .

4. Incidentally Abhinav Verma the son of an very powerful ex Congress lady MP is in Tihar jail who played a much bigger role in this and a few other Defence purchases tune to 5.2 Billions. Those scams too will hit out soon .

As of today CBI has not even questioned Tayagies and Verma  .

Better Watch instead shouting smelling some mouses and walking ahead with closed eyes. .My Congressi friends were chiding to BJP " ok we will not file FIR better BJP file a PIL in SC '' knowing very well that SC can't now entertain the PIL .

It is meaningless point scoring as soon Media and Opposition will hit the stand and streets shoulting Govt is pushing under the carpet this case. People will not the believe Congress but the opposition and Media .

Hence Congress should not repeat the Bofor like mistakes where Rajiv was ill advised by his courtiers to brazen out .In fact there was nothing in Bofor which could entangle Rajiv. But it was wrong advise he was given and he took upon himself to fight his tormentors .

Mere disdainful smile on his face would have been enough .

And there are  mention of very serious and dangerous allusions cum words appearing twice  in the Italian FIR .

Better Watch instead shouting smelling some mouses or cats & walking ahead with closed eyes into extreme deeper quagmire from which Congress will never will be able to extricate itself .

On the contrary Defence Minster is playing with a striaght bat and appears more resonable .

Congress should better follow the DM rather than throwing challenges to opposition .

Incidentally as per media specially TV many of their own correspondents are roaming in Italay,UK and many other palces and are speedily diiging out extremel dirty details.
