Indian Troops Kill Pak Soldier Who Crossed LoC

In yet another incident of ceasefire violation, a Pakistani soldier who intruded into the Indian territory was killed by the Army in the Naushera sector along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

This incident comes a month after Pakistani troops entered Indian territory and killed two Indian soldiers and beheaded one of them.

The Pakistan Army DGMO confirmed the identity of the killed intruder as their soldier and his request for the body to be returned has been accepted by the Indian side, Army spokesperson Col J Dahiya said here.

Giving details of the incident, he said, "Yesterday, around 1500 hours, some movement was seen along the LoC in Naushera. On being challenged, the intruder fired at the Indian patrol there. In the ensuing firefight, the intruder in combat uniform was killed and one AK-47 has been recovered from him."

After the incident, Pakistani DGMO last evening requested for an unscheduled conversation with his Indian counterpart and made the call today.

"Today he made the unscheduled call to our DGMO Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia confirming that the intruder was a Pakistani soldier. On his request, the body would be returned to the Pakistani side with full military respects due to a soldier," the Army spokesman said.

He said the body would be handed over to the Pakistani sector in the Naushera sector in the afternoon.

Dahiya said there was another ceasefire violation in the Krishna Ghati sector today when Pakistani troops opened fire at Indian posts between 0800 to 0915 hours.

"There were no casualties on our side. Our troops retaliated the fire in controlled measure with effective fix," he said.

The Pak army is already claiming "Indian troops killed soldier after questioning", that is in cold blood after he was taken as a prisoner (Reference: Pak online news site: Dawn)

Now, they will be hunting for Indian heads.  The Indian army better expect a brutal response from the other side and plan accordingly so that Indian soldiers are sent out to do their job with adequate support.

The decade long ceasefire along the LoC saved a lot of lives and served both sides well. Some time back, an IAF chopper strayed into PoK and it was released within a few hours, the crew unharmed. That should be the effort for the future.
