The Maoists today freed six abducted tractor drivers at a village in Bihar's Lakhisarai district, a police officer said.
The ultras released the six tractor drivers in a forest at Punadih village, hours after kidnapping them, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Subodh Kumar Viswas said.
The drivers were going towards the hilly areas to collect stone chips when a group of armed Maoists intercepted their vehicles and abducted them for non-payment of levy, he said.
The security forces had swung into action and launched a combing operation in the forest areas against the ultras, Viswas said.
