A constable was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a seven-year-old girl in Dostpur area here, police said today.

Constable Chandra Prakash Tiwari posted in Dostpur police station tried to rape the minor daugther of his neigbour yesterday, they said.

According to police, an FIR was registered on the complaint made by the mother of the girl and the constable was arrested.

In a separate incident, a woman was allegedly gangraped by two people in a school at Maherbani village in Saharanpur district, police said today.

"The victim woman (30) took a lift from the accused, Sonu on his motorcycle. He took her to a nearby school, which was empty, where the victim was gangraped yesterday by him and the school guard, Yamin," police said.

The main accused is absconding, while the school guard has been arrested in this connection, police said.

In another incident, a 20-year-old girl was gangraped in Nakhasa area here, police said today.

The incident came to light when the girl, who was held hostage by two persons Alam and Chiranji since Feb 5 managed to reach her home yesterday.

The girl told the police that both Alam and Chiranji and their friends raped her for three days.

Police has registered a case in this regard and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.

In yet another incident, a 40-year old woman was allegedly raped by two men at an under-construction school in Mehrbani village in the district, police said today.

The victim was waiting for bus while returning from her relatives place in Kishanpura when a person named Sonu took her to the school and raped her, they said.

Yamin, the school gatekeeper, also raped her, they said.

The victim later escaped from there and reported the incident following which Yamin has been arrested, they said.

Haryana

A 35-year-old woman, who was gang-raped by three youths on February 2, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree in Ghotru village in the district, police said today.

The mother of three children was waylaid by the youths, identified as Keemti Bishnoi, Ashok Mavliya and Sushil Kumar of neighbouring village Hasanga when she was out to search her mentally challenged husband, SP Vikas Dhankhar said.

Later, they forcibly dragged her to an isolated place and gang raped her, he said.

However, when she disclosed the incident to the village elders, they held a meeting during which the trio confessed to have committed the crime.

Yesterday, one of the accused rang up the victim and threatened of dire consequences if she complained the matter to the police, Dhankar said.

Intimidated by the threat, the woman took the extreme step last night to end up her life.

A case has been registered in this regard while the further probes are on, the SP added.

In yet another incident, two women were molested in separate incidents in the district, police said today.

A 33-year-old woman was alone at home when three accused, identified as Rambir alis Dara, Chandra and Gulaba broke into her house and allegedly molested her. On facing protest from the victim they managed to escape, police said.

When the victim's kin approached the family members of the accused, they were attacked. A case was registered against all the accused for molestation and attempt to murder.

In a separate incident in Paju Khurda village, a 30-year-old widow was allegedly molested by three men when she was alone at home.

Three accused, including one Ashok and his two friends, broke into the victim's house in an inebriated state. They beat up the victim for protesting and threatened to kill her if she informed anyone about the incident, police said.

Three persons were arrested for outraging a women's modesty yesterday might near Gariahat area in the metropolis, a senior police official said.

The three harassed and outraged the woman's modesty when she and her husband were travelling through the area yesterday night, DC (SED) Debabrata Das said.

Bihar

A police constable was arrested and sent to jail today on charge of molesting a five-year-old girl near Birla Mandir here.

The 50-year-old constable, who is posted at Pirbahor police station, was caught red-handed by the local people while molesting the girl and handed over to the police, the Superintendent of Police, City, Jayant Kant said.

The constable has also been suspended by the police authorities, Kant said adding investigation into the case was on.
