I see no reason to describe Togadia's speech as a hate speech. In fact Togadia repeats the standard Muslim complaint that it is Muslims who die in riots. First he gives example of nellie massacre, bhagapur riots where he says that only muslims were killed  when there was no  police protection. Then he gives the example gujarat where he says that muslims died even when police was present. It certainly gives the weightage to Muslim oft repeated lament of their targetting in riots . The emphasis on police in togadia's speech was a rebuttal to Owaisi's challenge to remove the police.  

As a matter of fact, it seems logical cause Muslims are minorities and they are bound to lose more people if a riot happens. The part in his speech that can be called as hate-speech is where  he threatens about the economic blockage by not traveling in an auto rickshaw owned by a muslim. In bigger cities, it is almost impossible and even in smaller cities, it is not practicly not feasible. Such econimic blockade happens after the riots mostly whether it is in Gujarat or Bombay and doesn't last long enough . The speech was not a hate speech like Owaisi as Togadia doesn't make an explicit threat to a particular community with deaths and war. However, the speech is not in a good taste as Togadia tries to browbeat the Muslims by pointing out their vulnerabilities that are obviously aware of.

It is certainly blot on cong. No denying the fact about that. In riot like situation who usually dies? Leaders or poor, hapless people?? ( I once asked this question to one RSS supporter and he was speechless) And what is the conviction rate?? ( it is my impression that we have become so in-sensitivised that either we take stand in favour of political parties and rarely think about the common people who are always at receiving end) I am not taking anyone’s side. What is wrong is wrong. We should move on and try to heal the wound instead of brooding over it.
 

But one main question remains here which also worries me a lot. What is the ideology of sangh? Foot soldiers and leaders like togadia and modi filled with the sanghi ideology played a destructive role in gujarat. They want to make it a hindu rashtra (theocratic) and not secular one. What is your take on on this?

I know very well how police and judiciary works (or rather mess up). Rajiv Gandhi’s killers are yet to be hanged. Judiciary is also great let down in all this affair. It will be good if you see this problem through judiciary and administrative angle rather than secu or commu,. angle. Anyone who kills is a killer. It is as simple as that.
 

Terrorism is terrorism. It should not be categorized. It is wrong on the party of the govt to say that it is saffron or hindu terrorism. It is purely sanghi terrorism.
 

Do not you think that Indian muslims have suffered bad name ad discrimination on account of pak sponsored terrorism.
 

I hope that Rahul Gandhi will take a strict stand on the issue of communalism and terrorism in the interest of the country since he himself has suffered a lot (causing imbalance).

My entry into this forum (excluding the first post which was on Solar Energy), was through writing on Delhi 1984 and Bombay riots of 1992/3 and to a lesser extent on Gujarat 2002. I don't give a damn for tokenisms.Some of what I wrote survives, but many have been deleted. 

If you were a mumbaikar, you will know that Teesta Setalvad and Javed Anand stated out as journalists. Anyone on the ground during Bombay riots knows of the mismatch between the newspaper coverage and reality on the ground. I don't mean factual inaccuracies, the atmosphere was not caught. Some documentaries caught that. To redress this imbalance, they started Communalism Combat as a broadsheet in late1993 or early 1994. Earlier Madhu Kishwar's Manushi was the only magazine that addressed communalism in depth outside specialist journals like EPW, Seminar etc. For your info. it was Javed Anand who got Srikrishna report published. Now it is available on sabrang website.

I find it ironical that most people here have based their opinion on what they read or what they watched on TV etc. I really do not know how to address this schism.

The role of Delhi Police Special Cell with luminaries like ACP Rajbir Singh and Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, both dead under dubious circumstances and very highly decorated will now come under scrutiny of public at large. Truth can not be buried for ever.

In Ansal Plaza shootout in 2002, two businessmen in a groggy state who were brought by the police were killed in a staged encounter. Unfortunately there was an eye witness to the whole thing. The men were initially claimed to be terrorists on a killer mission. The same decorated policemen were behind that also.

In Gujarat there were several fake encounters allegedly of terrorists on missions to kill the Bechara. The policemen are behind the bar over this because of activism of people like Mukul Sinha. Somehow all the terrorists have lost interest on the Bechara after this.

You keep on peddling the statement one hindu rioter killed by Modi Police for every two muslims killed. The actual facts I will write in a separate post later at night as I have no time now.
