BJP today said the government's "failure" to check price rise, corruption and threat to internal security will be discussed in the party's National Council Meet to be held here in March where the party will chalk out its strategy for the Lok Sabha and assembly polls.

BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here that that the National Council, comprising office bearers from the central leadership as well as the states and district levels, will deliberate on ways to apprise the people across the country with the "failures" of UPA government.

"The two-day National Council, to be held here on March 2 and 3, will discuss the political situation, state of the economy, internal and national security, bad governance, price rise and corruption in UPA government," Naqvi said.

The conclave is also likely to discuss the Ayodhya temple issue and the chorus for making Narendra Modi BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate which were the focus of VHP and RSS at the on-going Maha Khumbh at Allahabad.

The Council will be chaired by BJP President Rajnath Singh whose election as party chief will also be ratified by the body. All BJP MPs from both Houses of Parliament, central and state office-bearers, MLAs and MLCs from different states, mayors in different districts and zilla panchayat chiefs will participate in the meet.

"BJP will also discuss its strategy for the assembly elections being held in various states this year as well as the Lok Sabha elections which may be held sometime this year itself," Naqvi said.

BJP will emphasise on its aim of reaching out to the last man in the queue as part of its ideology of Antyodaya.

"The worsening economic situation in the country under our economist Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will also be discussed," Naqvi said.

He claimed the UPA government is on "crutches" (of SP and BSP) and may lose their support anytime leading to polls.

Meanwhile, BJP announced Rajnath Singh will begin the party's election campaign in the three poll-bound North-East states of Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland with a rally on in Agartala on February 11.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and her Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley will also campaign in these states.

BJP is contesting 50 seats in the 60-member Tripura Assembly.

In Nagaland, BJP has fielded 11 candidates and is contesting as part of the Nagaland Peoples' Front alliance. JD(U) is also a part of this alliance which is trying to retain power.

NPF will release its Common Minimum Programme (CMP) on February 10.

In Meghalaya, BJP is in the fray in 13 seats and is part of the National Peoples' Party alliance.
