Mumbai police today filed a charge sheet against film professional Jerrit John, accused of hurling chemical on his former girlfriend.
However, the police said they were still awaiting the forensic laboratory report on the kind of chemical used in the attack.
"We have filed a 280-page charge sheet, but the forensic report is still awaited," said a police source.
John was booked under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 379 (theft), 341 (wrongful restraint), 452 (trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) of the
IPC.
The charge sheet includes statements of 27 witnesses including seven eyewitnesses and the person who sold the chemical to John.
"The statement of the other friend who was also injured is also included in the charge sheet," the source said.
John was arrested last November and has been in custody since then. According to the police case, John, who owns production house 'No Nonsense' and has produced-directed television serials, flung the chemical at the 26-year-old victim, Aryanka
Hosbetkar, an international cyclist, at her residence at Adarsh Colony in Worli.
He allegedly dragged Aryanka upstairs before throwing the chemical at her. She was taken to a private hospital where she was treated and discharged later.
The two were facing problems in their 10-month-old relationship after Hosbetkar came to know that John was married and had a five-year-old son. He allegedly attacked Aryanka after she ended the relationship, though John was ready to divorce his wife.
