Delhi Police today claimed to have busted an auto-lifter gang operating in south-east Delhi with the arrest of two gang members and seizure of seven two- wheelers from their possession.
The arrested duo were identified as Munim alias Aazad alias Chhotu (30) and Saddam (23), both residents of Falan Ka Nangla village of Mathura in Uttar
Pradesh.
Police said Munim and Saddam were riding a bike near Vishwakarma Colony, MB Road, when the cops tried to stop them for regular checking, but the duo tried to flee from the spot.
They, however, were caught by cops after a chase.
On questioning, the rider failed to provide any document proving his ownership of the motorcycle. On scrutiny of the official record, the motorcycle was found to be stolen.
On sustained interrogation, both of them confessed their involvement in several cases of auto lifting from Delhi and National Capital Region. They used to sell the stolen two wheelers in
Mathura, Police said.
A case has been registered against the duo and further investigations in the case are on.
