Salem, Tamil NaduA Primary Health Care inspector was arrested at nearby Kullampatty village today for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl.
Acting on a complaint by the child's parents, the 47-year-old health inspector of the PHC at the village was arrested, they said.
The child was raped yesterday.
The man has been booked under Section 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, they said.
Mandla, Madhya PradeshA Class III girl student was allegedly raped by a guest teacher in a school toilet at a village in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, police said.
On February 2, when the girl was sitting alone in the class room of Naveen Government Primary School at Lato village here, the guest teacher - Prem Kumar (22) - asked her to go to the toilet for cleaning her running nose, police said.
The accused then followed the girl and after reaching the toilet locked its door and allegedly raped her, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) R F Kalda told reporters.
After reaching home, the victim informed about the offence to her grandmother, following which she approached the police yesterday and filed an FIR in this regard.
After an initial probe, police arrested Prem Kumar, the SDOP said.
The victim was initially admitted to the Mandla District Hospital, but when her condition deteriorated she was referred to Jabalpur Government Medical College.
Krishnagar, West BengalThe police arrested a 40-year-old man on the charge of raping a woman of his locality at Jhitkepota village under Kotwali police station in Nadia district, the police said.
The woman, who was deserted by her husband, lodged a complaint with the police that she was gagged, dragged from her house to a field and raped by the accused last night.
According to the complaint, the man entered the house when she was sleeping in her room with her mother.
This morning the woman told about the incident to a few locals who caught the accused and beat him up. After that, they handed him over to the police.
Medical test of the victim has been conducted, the sources said.
Jind, HaryanaA youth allegedly tried to rape a mentally-challenged teenaged girl at Surbra village in the district's Narwana subdivision, police said today.
Mahavir dragged the victim to his house while she was passing the area and tried to rape her, police said.
But her mother, who was nearby, heard the victim's cries and rushed to her rescue, they said, adding, the accused fled from the spot.
On the basis of a complaint filed by the victim's father, police have registered a case against the youth at the Uchana police station and are conducting raids at various places to nab the accused.
JaipurA six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 45-year-old man in Rajasthan's Ajmer district, police said.
The incident occurred yesterday at Kotda area. The accused took the girl, who was playing near her house, to a hilly area and allegedly raped her, they said.
The accused, identified as Gajendra Singh, was arrested last night, police said, adding that the girl is being treated at a local hospital.
Delhi
A 32-year-old woman was allegedly molested by a young man in inebriated condition at a park in Central Delhi with the victim claiming that she was forced to take the offender to a near-by police station after her attempts to reach the cops via helplines failed.
The victim, who is into import-export business of scarves in Maharani Bagh in south Delhi, said the incident took place at around 6:30 PM yesterday when she was out for a walk at Lodi Garden in central Delhi.
Anand, 28, who works at a video rental shop in near-by Khan Market had allegedly molested the woman when she walking.
The woman alleged that her calls made to recently-launched '181' and Delhi Police's helpline number of '100' for assistance proved futile.
Since her calls to police and the helpline did not materialise, the woman forcefully took him in her luxury car and drove straight to Tughlaq Road police station.
Anand has been booked for molestation, senior police official K C Dwivedi said, adding that a PCR van was sent based on her request.
However, the woman claimed it came 20 minutes after she had called the helpline number.
