More Support From Film Fraternity for Kamal Haasan
More members of the film fraternity, including Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, came out in support of Kamal Haasan today over controversy surrounding the release of his film Vishwaroopam.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan appealed to his fans to support Haasan over the ban on his film.

"It is just a movie and there are only two kinds of movies - good or bad, hit and flop - and only people who decide are the ones who buy tickets. Hope each and every fan of his supports him like I am doing and want all my fans to fully support him," Salman posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

The 47-year-old also requested people to stand outside cinema halls and insist on watching the movie.

"Then go stand outside the cinema hall and insist on seeing the film. It's a movie dude, entertainment, what law and order problem on a movie? Go there and insist that you want to see it, there is a Supreme Court judgement after the film is censored no body can stop it."

Actor Akshay Kumar, who was in the Capital today to promote his film Special 26, recalled the problems during the release of his production Oh My God.

"I had to talk to various organizations and make them understand that the movie is not against God. I think it's absolutely useless that we have to do something like this."

The actor, however, hoped that the matter would be resolved amicably.

"There is a Censor Board for this and if the government doesn't believe in the Board then they should appoint some other people. It is sad but one day it will come clean," Akshay said.

Anupam Kher, a former CBFC chief, said the ban was unacceptable and the Board should be the final authority in clearing a film.

"It is absolutely ridiculous... I have been a former Censor Board chief and we need to respect its verdict. If the board has cleared a movie we don't it needs to go to 50 other organisations for clearance. I think we are going back to the dark ages.

"A movie shouldn't be affected just because some 20 people are shouting slogans. This is appeasement politics. Government needs to be told that this is not acceptable," Kher said.

Actor Arjun Rampal posted on Twitter today, "It is just pathetic to make any artist experience what Kamal Haasan is experiencing right now. What kind of viciousness is this?"

"Didn't see any water cannons being used on those who protested against Vishwaroopam or are those only for students and the middle class," tweeted director Ken Ghosh.

Other members of the film fraternity like Shah Rukh Khan, Mahesh Bhatt and Karan Johar have already spoken in support of Haasan.

Vishwaroopam, which is approximately made on a budget of 100 crores, has been banned from being screened in Tamil Nadu after protests from some Muslim groups claiming that the film shows the religion in negative light.

The Hindi version of Vishwaroopam hits theatres tomorrow.
