President, PM Greet India on Milad-un-Nabi

President Pranab Mukherjee today wished the country on the eve of Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad.

"On the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of the Holy Prophet, I send my greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens.

"May the message of universal brotherhood, compassion, tolerance and service to humanity preached by the Holy Prophet guide and inspire us all to live a righteous and productive life," the President said.

In another message, Vice President M Hamid Ansari also greeted people on the occasion.

"I extend my greetings and best wishes to all our citizens on the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi which marks the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad. The Holy Prophet showed us the righteous path of compassion, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and universal brotherhood," he said.

"May His eternal message continue to guide us in building a peaceful and harmonious society," Ansari said.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi also greeted the people on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi.

"On the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, I share my feelings of joy and happiness with our countrymen. The Prophet had a deep love for the entire humanity," Gandhi said in her message.

"Let us once again pledge to preserve his ideals for a better tomorrow," she said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also greeted the nation on the occasion.

In his message, the Prime Minister recalled the timeless teachings of the Prophet which speak of brotherhood, tolerance and compassion among fellow human beings.
