Manpreet Kaur Dolly, daughter of late Akali stalwart Kanwaljit Singh, today joined the Congress in the presence of senior party leaders, including AICC state president Amarinder Singh and Union minister Perneet
Kaur.
Later in her address, Kaur said Dolly had actually inherited the political legacy of her late father, who was a mass leader and a seasoned Akali politician.
She also termed as significant, the fact that Dolly got over 10,000 votes in the previous Assembly polls, which she contested an an independent candidate.
Dolly, in her remarks, said she wanted to join the Congress as it always worked in a democratic manner and gave due representation to women.
Dolly is daughter of former Akali minister Kanwaljit Singh who died in a car accident in March 2009.
Her brother Jasjit Singh Bunny is an Akali member.
