An eleven-member delegation from Karachi which had come to attend the Vibrant
Gujarat Summit (VGS) could not participate in the three-day event held in
Gandhinagar as they were issued visas only for Ahmedabad, a senior state
government official said today.
Principal Secretary (Home) S K Nanda told PTI "The visas issued to the
delegation were only for Ahmedabad while some members had visas for Surat and
Vapi also. The delegation could not attend the Vibrant Gujarat Summit which was
held in Gandhinagar (about 30-km from Ahmedabad)."
Pakistani citizens are issued visas city-wise or to a certain destination and
not for the entire country.
The Gujarat government had invited some members of the Karachi Chamber of
Commerce and Industry for the event. They attended some industry symposiums in
Ahmedabad on Thursday.
It was not immediately known as to who was responsible for the goof-up.
