Expressing grave concern on the growing Indo-Pak tension over the brutal
killing of two soldiers on the Line of Control, the CPI today asked the Centre
to take note of jingoist elements on both sides of the border.
"Note should be taken that certain jingoist elements on both sides of the border
particularly the army in Pakistan have thrived on hatred and made attempts to
create tension, whenever there is sign of improvement in bilateral relations,"
CPI veteran A B Bardhan told reporters quoting a resolution approved at the
party's two-day National Executive here.
Bardhan said there were some people on both sides who did not tolerate better
relations between India and Pakistan.
Asking the Centre to take the initiative at the highest level to normalise the
situation, the CPI said "Even in war, mutilation of bodies is not accepted. This
shows hatred in the opposition camp."
Stating that the issue was discussed in detail at the National Executive
meeting, the left veteran said Government of India must ensure that the dignity
of the army was maintained.
"Normalise the relation between the two countries," the resolution said.
