A day after Karnataka government filed an affidavit in the High Court seeking two more months to shift the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar from the precincts of the Vidhana Soudha on a PIL, a contempt petition was filed by the petitioner today stating that the court order had not obeyed in the matter.
The petitioner, advocate A V Amaranathan filed a contempt petition against Chief Secretary and Managing Director, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) stating that the order given by the court on December 11, 2012, directing the government to shift the statue temporarily within 15 days, it was not obeyed by the authorities.
The contempt petition is likely to be listed before the court tomorrow.
The Bangalore-based advocate had approached the High Court claiming that the work on the Metro Rail project was being impeded and delayed because of the statue and sought that it (statue) be shifted temporarily till completion of the work.
