In a survey conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit, a sister company of
The Economist, it has been found that Switzerland is most apt place for a
baby to be born in 2013.
The survey was conducted based on the principle of measuring which country
would provide the best circumstances for a healthy, safe and prosperous life in
the years ahead.
While Switzerland managed to be at the top of the list and Australia at the
second place, India was found among the last 15 nations which were suitable for
people to be born in. It raned as low as 66th.
The survey consisted of as many as 80 countries listed. While there were
small economies in the top ten, half of them were European, except for the
Netherlands which is from the euro zone.
Switzerland, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Singapore, New Zealand,
Netherlands, Canada and Hong Kong were the countries that made it to the top ten
in the list.
