Paritala Sriram, son of late TDP leader Paritala Ravindra, was booked today
on the alleged charge of attempt to murder Congress leader K Sudhakar Reddy
after his name was revealed by three accused in custody, police said.
Sriram's name cropped up during the investigation of three persons who were
arrested by police from Kunathutu gate between Dharmavaram and Mallillapalli
villages in the district on Saturday, they said.
According to police, a gang of 13 people, armed with sickles and a gun, was
hiding at Kunathutu to attack Reddy on Saturday. While police caught Vadde
Nagaraju, M Sreenivasulu and Vadde Ramakrishna, the rest of the accused escaped,
they said.
The trio were produced before the court of the judicial magistrate and remanded
in judicial custody today.
According to police, Sriram was booked under section 307 of IPC (attempt to
murder). He is shown as accused no 14 in the present case and is absconding,
they said.
Sriram allegedly supplied funds to the tune of Rs 10 lakh and weapons to the
gang.
Last year, police had foiled a plan, allegedly hatched by a person identified as
Nagur Hussain and others, to bump off Reddy who is an accused in murder of three
persons, including a woman in 2011.
