Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a candle light march here demanding justice for the 23-year-old gang-rape victim who passed away today.
PDP activists held the march at the city's Kachi Chawani area. They observed silence to mark the death of the young woman and later demanded stringent punishment for the accused.
They called for action so that such an incident is not repeated in the future.
Another candle light march was organised here by Shiv Sena and Dogra Front
for the gang-rape victim.
The march started from Parade ground and proceeded to City Chowk.
In a condolence message, the protesters said the death of the young woman should
prompt the framing of new and strong laws.
They also demanded death penalty for the accused.
Meanwhile, several social and non-government organisations along with local
residents participated in a candle light vigil at Chandigarh to pay tributes to
the Delhi gang-rape victim.
The protesters observed a two-minute silence in memory of the departed soul and
formed a human chain in Sector 17 here.
