Final Accused in Punjab Cop's Murder Held in MP
The police today arrested the sixth and final accused in the killing of ASI Ravinderpal Singh from a town in Madhya Pradesh.

Sandeep Rampal was arrested from a roadside eatery early today by a police team, which had been camping in the jungles of Ramgarh, around 90 kilometres from Bhopal, after getting tip-off that the accused was hiding there, Amritsar Police Commissioner Ram Singh said.

Sandeep subsequently was produced in a court at Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, which handed over his custody to Punjab Police on a transit remand till December 21 to produce him in the court here, said the police commissioner.

The police has already arrested the other five accused, including prime accused Ranjit Singh Rana, he said.

Assistant Sub Inspector Ravinderpal Singh was allegedly shot dead in full public view by Rana, an Akali Dal leader, and his accomplices on December 5 after he objected to the harassment of his daughter.

Two live cartridges were seized during frisking of Rana by the authorities of central jail here today.

According to a jail official, some people who visited Rana in the common meeting room supplied two live cartridges of 12 bore gun to him.

The cartridges were seized during the frisking process by jail staff when Rana was returning to his cell.

Video recording of the meeting will be checked to identify the person who supplied the cartridges, official said, adding that a fresh case under the arms act will be registered against Rana.

Meanwhile on the appeal made by slain ASI Ravinderpal's daughter Robanjit Kaur to tighten the security given to the family, police have permanently stationed two security guards at their house.
