YSR Congress party in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today demanded assistance from the Centre for farmers affected by cyclone 'Nilam' that hit parts of Andhra Pradesh recently.
Y S Vijayamma, YSRCP honorary president in a letter to the Prime Minister has sought waiver of crop loans and interest thereon, extension of 75 per cent subsidy on seeds to the farmers for the Rabi season and rescheduling of loans given to Self Help Groups by six months.
Referring to the recommendations of Bhupinder Singh Hooda committee report, the party has also demanded assistance of Rs 10,000 per acre to be given from the Calamity Relief Fund to all the farmers including the tenant farmers who lost their crops fully.
The party has also sought Prime Minister's appointment as it proposes to depute a team of senior party functionaries to personally appraise him of the situation in the state.
