A debt-ridden cotton farmer who suffered losses due to the recent heavy rains, allegedly committed suicide in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh, police said today.
P Tirupathi (41) of Rudraram village under Koyyur police limits, about 85 kms from here, took the extreme step last evening by consuming insecticide.
Tirupathi owned four acres of land in the village and had borrowed about Rs 3 lakh from money lenders, they said.
Unable to pay debts due to damaged crops, he ended his life at his residence, police added.
