Speculation had been mounting earlier today about the fate of the beleaguered BJP President Nitin Gadkari and some news channels reported that he had offered to resign to BJP parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani who, it was reported, in turn had asked him not to act in haste and let the party decide.
.
This was later dismissed by BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar who termed them as "baseless speculation" and stated that the BJP core committee unanimously stands firmly behind Mr Gadkari and that there is no question of the latter resigning.
Mr Javadekar also said that Mr Gadkari would be travelling to Himachal Pradesh tomorrow for the party's election campaign, as scheduled.
Mr Gadkari's company Purti
Power&Sugar Ltd also said today that it has been complying with the
requirements of laws from time to time and that media allegations about it should not prejudice any enquiry by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
