I Can Accept Equity From Anyone: Gadkari
BJP President Nitin Gadkari today denied allegations that Purti Group, a cooperative society with which he was associated, had fictitious shareholders and that a company close to him had unduly benefitted when he was the PWD Minister in Maharashtra.

"In any company there are many shareholders. We have to raise the capital.... There are 10,000 shareholders. Some of them are industrialists, traders, businessmen, NRIs. Anybody can be a shareholder," Gadkari told NDTV.

He was responding to allegations that 18 companies which own 80 per cent of the shares in Purti Group were not located on the addresses mentioned on the website of the Group.

Activist Arvind Kejriwal had targeted Gadkari accusing him of being involved in murky financial dealings.

On the charge that he had unduly benefited a road building company owned by "friend", Gadkari refuted the allegation of any quid pro quo.

Asked if the addresses were fictitious, Gadkari said there is a possibility that the addresses may have changed.

"A lot of stakeholders have changed their addresses. There are 10,000 stakeholders," the BJP President said adding that he cannot be expected to have ready details but expressed confidence that he could furnish addresses of all of them.

The BJP chief maintained that Income Tax department has scrutinised his accounts. He also clarified that soon after becoming the BJP President he had resigned from Purti Group and disagreed with the suggestion that there was a conflict of interest in his being a leading politician and a businessman.

Gadkari also refuted Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh's allegation that he has been collecting money and channelising his ill-gotten wealth through shell companies.

"I am ready for any inquiry...Digvijay Singh has been making charges for a long time...First of all these companies do not belong to Purti Group (they only bought shares)," he said.

Gadkari defended his association with a contractors and businessmen saying " I can accept equity from anyone. There is nothing wrong...Many contractors are my friends".

Ghadkari did not clarify why the address of the said Companies which had invested   in Purti dont exsist in the places made out in the documents.Ghadkai said that the address  must have  been changed.

The fact that the source of the funds of these companies hasnt been looked into does not absolve Ghadkari of obvious wrong doing.

If one looks into the modus operandi of skeletal companies and the investments made by them it is just the way Jagan Reddy went about making money.

Why is that when India Cements invests in Sakshi Tv and gets extra water a quid pro quo is made out and not when a Company which got contracts from PWD between 95 to 99 from Ghadkari investing in Ghadkari"s companies.

Seenivasan did not ask these Questions to Ghadkari on the similarities. So to absolve Ghadkari off all wrong doing is hypocrasy and will lead the Nation to a impending disaster.

Its like Pawar having been allowed to get away with Lavasa ,Irrigation scam all worth more than 2 lakh crores ,calling Ghadkari a social activist.

Can well imagine the future off India.

He is simply amazed that people don't understand rules are different for parivar people and others. Simply by being in parivar puts him beyond the purview of such mundane things as law or courts. Parivar people have time and again said that they would not obey courts orders.

>> Poor Gadkari! It seems Kejriwal has opened up a can of worms

Poor jehadi. It seems he shall be satisfied only if BJP wallahs say that they won't accept equity from Muslims or Christians. That would probably make them happy.

Media is working hard to prove a quid-pro quo.... If investing (2001) in a company owned by Gadkaris is a quid-pro-quo for his award of contract in 1999 than what about the donations given to all political parties... What kind of bribe is that?

Yesterday NDTV acted like public prosecutor in a court, cross-examining Gadkari... will Robert Vadar, Rahul G, Sonia G all so be cross-examined like this in name of exclusive interview?

NDTV we already know that you stand for Nehru dynasty TV, no need of more proofs…

I dont like  Gadkari so long.. but after the way he faced the intimidating NDTV yesterday, I started to think he is a brave politician.
