PTI Refutes Modi's Statement on Sonia's Foreign Trips
The Press Trust of India (PTI) has issued the following statement today:

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today made a false claim that PTI had reported in July that Congress President Sonia Gandhi's foreign trips had cost Rs 1,880 crore during a three-year period.

Modi, who has stirred a controversy over government expenses on Gandhi's foreign tours, told CNN-IBN, "In the month of July, Outlook magazine, Times of India, Indian Express and some other newspapers reported from the news of PTI that Madam Soniaji's three years of foreign tour expenses are Rs 1,880 crore."

He went on to say, "So, I raised the question that it has been three months since July and why isn't the Government of India giving a clarification." The publication of such "wrong reports" should be clarified, he said.

PTI would like to make it clear that it had not not issued any such story.

The Gujarat Chief Minister had, on October 1, first attributed the figure of Rs.1,880 crore to a government response to an RTI applicant of Hisar in Haryana which, he said, had been published in a newspaper on July 12.

This was controverted by the applicant Ramesh Verma who went on national television to say that he had got no such information in response to his RTI application and infact, the government had not given him any response.

However, the information collected by him from the External Affairs Ministry and Indian missions abroad had given him a figure of Rs.80 lakhs to Rs.85 lakhs, he said.

The Prime Minister's Office had said last week that no government money has been spent on the Congress President's overseas visits or on her medical treatment and described Modi's figure of Rs.1,880 crore as "untrue and misleading".

The Central Information Commissioner had also denied the report on the Sonia's expenses.

So Modi's lies have finally caught up with him?

What ever may be his lie or fact but he made people of this country to think of Saint Sonia spending.....

So he has done a greta service to nation...

"Modi had first named some obscure paper and some obscure news agency. That proved to be a lie. "

The Gujarati news paper is named "Jai Hind"  Newspaper and it is widely circulated regional paper in Gujarat...So for someone from NewYork may find it obscure...

Code of OMERTA by media : No media has followed up on any of the basic questions.

1. How many trips were undertaken by SG and RG over the past 8+ years ?

2. How much money is spent on these trips ?

3. Who footed the bill ?

In MSM, it has been a case of telescopic-eclipsing : FDI ecliped Coalgate, Vadragate ecliped FDI, Khurshid trust gate ecliped Vadragate, Virbhadra Singh eclipes trust gate. 2G, CWG,Adarsh seem like in the distant past. All big ticket/high profile scams will be reported now. 2013-14 will be reserved for blowing up sundry scams involving opposition. Nobody will be able to ask questions about 2G,CWG,... in 2014 - because "there is nothing new in the allegations".

Anwaar,

[[You can't fool all the people all the time.]]

This rule doesn't hold true for Muslims. They have been (and are being) fooled by the Congress for the last 60 years.

It would be surprizing if Mr. Modi invented this figure on his own.  But even if he did, he must be following the age old trick to extract correct information, like asking "if that is not the correct figure, give us the correct figure".  If you follow US media, you may have read the wild speculation that Mr. Romney may not have paid 'any' tax during past years for which he is not revealing his Tax Returns.  This is a trick to get the truth out about his past Tax Returns.
