Cash-for-Bail: Janardhan Reddy Produced in ACB Court
Former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy was today produced before an Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) court here in connection with the cash-for-bail scam.

Janardhana Reddy, who is presently lodged in a Bangalore jail in connection with the illegal mining case, was brought on transit warrant and produced before the ACB court.

The court had issued directions to produce Reddy and other accused before it today, taking cognisance of the charge sheet filed by Andhra Pradesh ACB against seven persons, for attempting to bribe the suspended special CBI court judge T Pattabhirama Rao for granting bail to Reddy in Obulapuram Mining Company case.

Names of two district judges, K Lakshminarasimha Rao and T Prabhakar Rao, who were suspended, also figure in the charge sheet.

Other accused in the case include Janardhan's brother and Bellary city MLA Gali Somashekhar Reddy, Kampli MLA T H Suresh Babu, Dasaratha Ram Reddy (Reddy's relative), who were also produced before the court.

Suryaprakash Babu, another accused, who is out on bail, also appeared before the court.

On August 13, the ACB had filed its first charge sheet against Pattabhirama Rao and seven others for entering into a conspiracy to facilitate bail to Janardhan Reddy.

The second charge sheet was filed on September 6 pertaining to the second case registered by the ACB over attempts to bribe Pattabhirama Rao.

Meanwhile, the court extended the remand of suspended judge Prabhakar Rao, two Karnataka legislators Somashekhar Reddy and Suresh Babu, Dasaratha Ram Reddy besides Janardhan Reddy till October 5.

Janardhan Reddy was taken to Chanchalguda Central Prison while others were sent to Cherlapally Jail here.

Earlier, the moment Janardhan Reddy was produced in the ACB court premises, Suresh Babu broke down after seeing him. Janardhan Reddy also had a brief interaction with his brother Somashekhar Reddy and Suresh Babu in the court premises.

Meanwhile in another development, a special CBI court extended the judicial remand of Janardhan Reddy and his brother-in-law B V Srinivas Reddy and former Director (Mines & Geology) V D Rajagopal in the OMC case, till October 9 after they were produced through video-linkage.
