48-Hr Hill District Bandh in Manipur
Hill-based students' organisations have called a 48-hour hill district bandh in Manipur from midnight tonight in protest against government's failure to open examination centres at hill district headquarters for the teachers eligibility test (TET), they said in a joint statement today.

The organisations including Tangkhul Students Organisation and Zeliangrong Students Union said the failure to open TET examination centres at hill district headquarters indicated government's negligence for people in the hill districts.

Official sources said the authorities could not set up examination centres at the hill areas due to 'technical problems'.

Sources said forms for the TET were being issued at some certain places in Imphal and date for the examination was yet to be decided.
