Modi Under Attack for Comment on Women's Health
Dubbing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's comment on women as "childish", Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni today said he is not "sensitive" towards women.

"The Gujarat Chief Minister, who claims himself to be one of the best administrators in the world, is giving this kind of childish statement specially against women," Soni told reporters outside Parliament.

Explaining why malnutrition level in the state was persistently high, Modi had said in an interview to Wall Street Journal that "Gujarat is ...A middle class state. The middle class is more beauty conscious that health conscious - that is a challenge. If a mother tells her daughter to have milk they have a fight. She will tell her mother 'I wont drink milk, I will get fat."

Taking on Modi for the comment, Soni said, "There are serious charges against his ministers in his state. He is keeping himself busy in these kind of light matters."

"He is not even sensitive towards women who support their families by sacrificing their food for the sake of their families in Gujarat and now he is saying that women are not eating because they are health conscious. What can be more light statement than this?" she asked and added "I think he is not fit to contest again in Gujarat."

Slamming the statement, Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath said Modi "lacks wisdom".

"This is very wrong to say so. Every girl has a right to be health conscious. If anyone thinks it otherwise he lacks wisdom," Tirath said.

Congress MP Girija Vyas was more upfront in her attack on Modi.

Demanding withdrawal of the statement by him, Vyas said "We have serious objection to the statement of Modi and he should withdraw it. It is his duty to eliminate malnutrition in his state."

"Modi is not only hiding the cases of malnutrition but also making mockery of girls. Girls are of course figure conscious what's wrong with it. Today girls are going ahead, it does not mean because of health consciousness they are malnourished," she said.

Reacting to Modi's statement, NCP leader Tariq Anwar said, "I think he (Modi) has given this kind of statement to hide his government's failures in the health sector. It does not behove of a CM to speak like this."

RJD leader Lalu Prasad said Modi should have resigned and apologised to people because his ministers were found guilty in 2002 riot case.

"The main culprit is Modi in Gujarat. These are fascist forces who always keep talking like this. In BJP-ruled Bihar also atrocities against women are rising," he alleged.

Coming to the defence of Modi, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said, "The whole medical fraternity is discussing the presence of anaemia in not so poor sections of society. They are discussing various reasons but Congress has a phobia of Modi. That is why whenever it hears the name of Modi it criticises. I can only pity the Congress because wherever they go they are afraid of Modi that is why they criticise him even on non-political subject.

Such a tempest is a tea-pot! Modi baiters are desperate to cling to any piece of news that may malign him.

Curiously, the congress remained mum on yesterday's verdict on Maya and Bajrangi. Their silence was baffling! No Manish tiwari with a grin on his face. No Renuka Chaoudhry in her natak best! I was expecting them to go to town with it.

TOI says its because madam has tolf them to hold their horses as everytime they abuse Modi, he somehow turns it into an advantage for himself. Remember "maut ka saudagar"? It seems she has learned her lesson well.

Modi's comments are true. The glossy costly femmie magazines publish semi nude advertisements of women which is the fodder for the modern office and college girls. They talk about sex, sex, adultery, potency of men etc.,  and not how to remain healthy. Nature created in this bharath all the suitable vegetations for the human beings of this sub continent for healthy living. The old balanced food items are given go by and now are eating dry breads with saturated salted ketchup and artificially sugared jams which are more harmful than giving necessary vitamins and minerals needed for the body growth. At least in gujerath you get good milk and in all other places you get only a white liquid called milk. To keep them lean and sexy, these modern girls eat pizzas in restaurants speaking their ketchupised english. They wear artifically puffed up sponge filled bras to look sexy to the youngsters. Previously after sixth month of pregnancy, the girl is fed nutritious items made out of nava dhanyam for milk secretion after delivery. The girl is encouraged to do household works as exercise for easy delivery and to go to temple to pray for a child, healthy, intelligent, lucky, fair to be born on a good day good time. Now the pregnant mothers crack highly salty hot junk food which do not contain anything to secrete breast milk. Now the new mothers are afraid of their sex appeal if they breast feed. The new borns depend on canned milk which god alone knows what it contains. A mother while feeding her child feeds her feelings, her prayers to god for the health and good conduct. The high incidence of paediatric diabetes, opthalmological problems, unruly behaviour can be attributed to the careless mothers for whom their sex is of prime importance. Previously, when there are many children in the family, there is brotherly sisterly affection and to help and be concerned with the health, education and growth of co borns. With the new single child norm, with the women more concerned with their physical beauty, the child is lonely and grows arrogant, defiant and disobedient. Such girl children expect preferential treatment in the in laws house also after marriage. They consider it their privilege for preferential special treatments. The inflexible girls are responsible for the high incidence of broken marriages. They go broke after a couple of divorce and end up in suicide unable to face life. Women are to give birth to future intelligent, disciplined, devoted national minded citizens. Due to lack of proper vitamin D for the bone growth and strength in the young ages, by age of 30, women have developed osteo porosis and osteo arthritis by junk food.Ambika soni is unfit to advise the indian girls. The awareness of  responsibility must come from oneself than someone making a remark. If it is chinese milk powder which is cheap but contains toxic materials which our ;government permits for bilateral trade agreements, our children get toxic stuff into their brain. We have a government which is more concerned about tax collection, corruption, foreign exchange  etc., than the welfare of the future citizens. Should not the present parents be concerned about the future citizens. Now at least, Modi Sir, has opened the eyes eventhough controversial.

Can someone explain me why this is a news ? Doesn't Ambika Soni have more important things to do ? This Modi-phobia is getting more ridiculous.

Modi will do well to learn from Beauty Queens about how to make politically correct statements - talk about World Peace, working for the poor to remove poverty of every man/woman/child of the state, make every person in the state healthy etc etc.

Typical of a ( well known ) feminist minister, to harp on what is essentially a MUNDANE REMARK by Mr. Modi, thus claiming brownie points for her 'suppressed and oppressed gender'.

If Mr. Modi feel that BOYS are not health conscious enough to avoid fatty milk, he must back up his words with proper funding for MALE HEALTH AWARENESS.

Also, it is highly improper for a national minister ( of ALL genders ) to get worked up like this over trivial remarks which happen to mention women - that too in neutral terms.

She needs to have her head examined.
