Narendra Modi on Time Magazine Cover
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi figures on the cover of the forthcoming issue of Time magazine which praises him in an article for development of the state he has been ruling for over a decade but wonders if he can become the Prime Minister.

The cover of the Time magazine's March 26 issue features Modi, with the caption: "Modi means business but can he lead India".

In an article titled "Boy from the backyard", in the forthcoming edition, the US magazines describes Modi as a "controversial, ambitious and shrewd politician". It also mentions his series of day-long Sadbhavana fasts to reach out to the people of the state.

"It's Modi in makeover mode: an act of self-purification, humility and bridge building in a state that is still traumatised by the Hindu-led anti-Muslim massacres of 10 years ago and the flawed investigations in their wake...," the article says.

The Time magazine article says Modi is a firm, "no-nonsense leader" who can steer India out of a "mire of chronic corruption.

Modi is an EXCELLENT administrator who has no reason to do corruption.Don't judge him purely through the prism of media, which has demonized him by Goebbelian methods. No court has convicted him yet.
Look at the person, he understands the language of this generation. He is a visionary. He can get things DONE. India needs such hardcore leaders who can lead us into the 21st century. All my life, I got vexed with the stereotype Indian politician who rigs the elections, bribe the electorate, come to power and gobble money without doing anything worthwhile.
It was the courageous leadership of Franklin D Roosevelt and Winston Churchill that got rid of the Nazi war machine. India needs such leaders. India on the other hand is being ruled by appeasers who don’t do anything apart from bribing Muslims and maintaining their vote share.

We have two prime ministers (one official & the other unofficial). We had a railway minister who paraded a Osama Bin Laden look alike in the election campaign to appease some noisy Muslims. I wish to see India as a super power that is one of the richest and the mightiest countries on this planet. This is what I want.

However, these pseudo secularists (UPA & Left) are dividing my country in the name of secularism. I seriously don’t understand what is the meaning of “secular environment” with the crumbling infrastructure around. Even their claim of “secular environment” is skewed as I see some sort of Hindu-Muslim tension all around.

Remember, secularism cannot feed a hungry person. It is the economic development that can really feed the poor. It is the economic development that can make our country strong. Congress and Left are anti-economic development parties as far as I can see. Muslims are far safer in Gujarat than in states ruled by congress.
Congress exploits Muslims and make sure that they remain poor. Modi on the other hand doesn’t get into this appeasement. That’s the only difference. Congress, using biased & corrupt media is simply creating hype about Modi.
India needs dynamic leadership. And only Modi is the hope whether you like it or not.

The Time article also has positive things to say about Modi, which the above report conveniently does not mention:

>>>>The road to his office in Gandhinagar, a smooth, featureless four-lane highway........: Modi ordered the demolition of about 120 small Hindu shrines to make room for it, despite vehement objections from his Hindu nationalist allies.

>>>>>It’s possible to find similar sentiments even among Muslims. “What happened in Gujarat 10 years back was the darkest phase in the history of Gujarat,” says Mohsin Sheikh, 56, an artist who lives in the Muslim enclave of Sarkhej in Ahmedabad. “I am hopeful that the victims will soon get justice. At the same time, I think that everyone should try to forget what happened a decade back and move on. Gujarat’s development is benefiting not just one community but all the people of Gujarat, irrespective of caste and religion.”

The article tries to present Modi in a balanced manner instead of demonising him.

>>>>for some, he will always be the man who presided over the 2002 anti-Muslim violence, and there are millions who will never forgive him and hope that he will eventually face criminal charges. (Modi has always denied any wrongdoing, and said he did the best that he could to protect the people of his state.) For others, 2002 is a distant memory, and Modi is fully rehabilitated as a paragon of good governance and effective administration. Those may seem like two irreconcilable halves, but spend any time in Gujarat, and both are simultaneously visible.

Reportage should be unbiased and should report from all perspectives and leave it to the reader to form his opinion. There is a lot that our mainstream media can learn from the Time newsmagazine, which they always try to imitate, at least as far as style is concerned..

If we let our fanatical bigoted idiot be the editor of Time magazine then the magazine would be named "Islamic Times". And on the Cover we will have such illustrious figures as

1. Osama Bin Laden

2. Saddam Hussein

3. Afzal Guru

4. Ajmal Kasab

5. Maulana Masood Azhar

6. Dawood Ibrahim

7. Abdul Rahman Yasin

8.  Ayman Al-Zawahiri

9. Mohamed Atta

10. ISI

11. Hamas

12. Laskhar-e-Toiba

13. Harkat-ul-Mujahideen

And the cycle repeats every quarter. Headline: "Ajmal Kasab means business". It will also have a tag line called "Most widely ciruclated secular magazine".
