Balakrishna arrested, readmitted to hospital
Hyderabad, Jun 6 (PTI) Amidst high drama, popular Telugu cine actor and son of former Chief Minister late N T Rama Rao, Nandamuri Balakrishna, allegedly involved in a shoot-out, was today arrested from a hospital and re-admitted there after being produced before a judge.

Balakrishna, against whom police have registered an attempt to murder case for opening fire at film producer B Suresh and his friend Satyanarayana Chowdhary on Thursday, was taken into custody in the wee hours today, Police Commissioner R P Singh told reporters here.

Balakrishna, who got himself admitted to Care hospital immediately after the incident complaining of a hand injury, was taken into custody at about 3.30 AM and whisked through the rear door of the hospital.

Later, the actor was produced before fifth Metropolitan Magistrate, who ordered police to produce him again tomorrow.

The Judge ordered police to admit Balakrishna in another hospital but later accepted the actor's plea to re-admit him in the same hospital.

The actor is likely to file a petition for bail, sources close to Balakrishna said.

Meanwhile, police said a show cause notice would be issued to Balakrishna's wife for not protecting her licensed weapon which was used in the shoot.

Police was also contemplating issuing a notice to Care hospital for not informing them after Balakrishna got admitted to the hospital, as it was a medico-legal case, they added.

Giving details of the incident, Singh said police was yet to examine three servants of the actor who were present at the time of incident which took place in the office room of the actor's residence.

Singh said the actor admitted before the police last night that he opened fire following an argument with Suresh on the question of celebrating 100 days of his recently hit film 'Lakshmi Narasimha'.

However, the actor could not remember how many shots he had fired as he was in depression, the official said.

Singh, in reply to a question, also clarified that the case has not been handed over to CID, "as investigations had gone too far and police would continue the probe".

Meanwhile, the condition of Suresh and his associate Chowdhary was stated to be stable. They were responding to treatment, hospital sources added.
