Salgaocar Sign Striker Mandjou Keita
Salgaocar's strike force will look more sharp with the signing of Guinea striker Keita Manjdou.
He is likely to make his debut against JCT on Saturday provided his International transfers certificate arrive in time.
Keita, who was the top scorer in the ULS, second division league in the United States has already started training with the squad, is on loan from Portland Timbers and is expected to partner Nigerian striker Eneke Ikenwa upfront, giving more teeth to Salgaocar's attack which lacked sharpness.
Keita (30), began his professional career in Malaysia when he signed for Perak FA in 2004. He impressed on debut for the top Malaysian club, and according to reports, was carried off the pitch by two jubilant fans after the match.
Keita later went on to win the Golden Boot award for the 2006 season, scoring 17 goals but was unlucky not to have won the favourite Import player award despite being among the three players who were nominated.
"Keita was once the top scorer in the Malaysian league and he was the top scorer in the league in the US this season. So we are very confident he will do well in India. Being an African, he should be able to adapt very quickly to Indian conditions," said coach Tim Hankinson adding that Keita, Ekene and Avneet (PIO from US) should prove lethal combination for Salgaocar who are looking to upstage their position.
