A book in which leading experts and scholars present an analysis on the rise of the Indian economy across various sectors over the last 15 years was released here Wednesday.
Titled Indian Economic Superpower - Fiction or Future, the book, written by Prof. Jayashankar M Swaminathan of the University of North Carolina, USA, emphasises the fact that India's prominence in the global economy is on the rise.
The book explores potential opportunities and pitfalls in business sectors like software, Business Process Outsourcing, manufacturing, logistics, aviation, marketing sales and medicine
It also provides an overview of potential challenges related to infrastructure; lopsided growth and education in India and the pitfalls to avoid while entering India. The book concludes by identifying sectors of outstanding potential for growth in the upcoming decade.
"The ability of India to truthfully claim an economic superpower status depends critically on the way it can leverage human, knowledge and capital resource base to innovate and create sustainable inclusive growth over the next decade", Prof. Swaminathan said at the launch.
Director of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, Prof. Pankaj Chandra and former Karnataka IT Secretary, Vivek Kularni, who have written on logistics and offshoring sectors in the book, were present on the occasion.
