Panaji, Oct 31 (PTI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to launch anti-off shore casino agitation in the state by end of November.

"Pale constituency by-elections are round the corner, we can't hold any agitations or demonstrations as it is banned under code of conduct. We will start agitation against off shore casinos once elections are over," Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar told reporters here today.

The BJP had initiated anti off shore casinos movement last month holding candle light protest at Casino Goa, the first ever gambling den in the water.

Goa is the only state to have off shore casinos loaded on the ship and operating in the Mandovi river water.

"BJP opposes casinos in all the forms. There are some hotels in the state which have turned into gambling dens illegally operat ing the casinos," Parrikar said.

He said that the BJP unit will chalk out an extensive agitation against the off shore casinos.

The BJP has been opposing off shore casinos claiming that it wi ll invite gamblers to the state in the form of tourism and also will turn the tiny coastal state into Macau and Las Viegas.

Goa has granted licences to two off shore casinos which operate in the Mandovi river water. The state government has adopted a cabinet resolution to have all together six off shore casinos.
