Narco' polygraphy test for UP blasts accused

Faizabad (UP), Feb 29 (PTI) The accused in serial blasts in court premises of Lucknow and Faizabad will be subjected to narco analysis test, polygraphy (lie detection) and brain mapping tests.

The accused Khalid Mujahid and Tariq Qasim, who were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) a few days ago in Barabanki, were shown as involved in the blasts in Lucknow and Faizabad.

Inspector General of Police, Lucknow zone, A.K. Jain told PTI here that "we have requested the court to allow narco analysis, polygraphy and brain-mapping tests of the accused, which the court has accepted".

The investigation of this serial blasts case has been transferred to the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), he said.

Mujahid and Qasim, detained in Lucknow jail, were produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate of Faizabad, on Tuesday. CJM Sahilesh Tiwari has directed investigating officer Rajesh Pandey to present before the court a programme chart for carrying out these tests likely to be done in Central Forensic Laboratory, Banglore. Meanwhile, the relatives of Mujahid and Qasim claimed they were "innocent" and approached the National Human Rights Commission for "justice".

"Our children are innocent. They are not terrorists", said Mumtaz Ahmad, father of Tariq.

He alleged the STF had kidnapped his son on December 12 and showed him as arrested in Barabanki after some days".

"I have even lodged the FIR in the local police station of Saraimeer in Azamgarh about the missing of Tariq", said Mumtaz Ahmad.

"In the same way, police kidnapped Khalid on 16th of December from his place", showing a copy of a complaint addressed to the station officer of Rani Ki Sarai police station in Jaunpur.

Zaheer Alam, uncle of Khalid, said he had also approached the local police station and informed them about missing of Khalid".
