Warrants issued against Telgi
New Delhi, Oct 18 (PTI) A Delhi court today issued warrants against Abdul Karim Telgi, a key accused in a multi-crore fake stamp paper scam case here, directing the prison authorities at Pune to produce him before it through video-conferencing in the Karkardooma complex here.

As the installation of video-conferencing facilty at Karkardooma court complex was in its final stage, Additional Sessions Judge J M Malik asked the CBI to produce Telgi on October 31 in a case wherein four Delhi policemen are also facing trial.

Earlier, the cases involving Telgi as accused in Delhi were shifted to a camp court in the National Informatics Centre (NIC) here for securing his presence through video- conferencing.

As per the CBI, Inspector Puran Singh, Head Constable Om Prakash and Constables Ratan Singh, Sanjay Bazad and Gaurav Aggarwal of South District Investigation Unit (DIU) of Delhi Police had helped Telgi by implicating his business rivals in false cases.

Puran Singh, in connivance with other officials, created false evidence in order to implicate Telgi's rivals and took Rs 70 Lakh from him for creating false cases against his opponents and protecting his gang, CBI alleged.

An FIR was lodged in 1999 against Telgi and five police officials under various sections of IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The court had, however, on July 26 granted bail to four policemen and asked them to surrender their passports.

Telgi is presently lodged in Yerrawada jail in Pune, Maharashtra.
