So it is all about Ram Temple! And Bhagwat says, ""Violence and terrorism have never had a place in the RSS or the entire Sangh Parivar." Are not Gujarati Bajrangis part of the parivar? And what about all those RSS members in jail now on terrorism charges?

Even assuming they are convicted, will you extend the same logic to CAIR?

Or will you maintain a secular silence on the issue.

RSS is way off the mark here if they claim Ayodha as "Indian identity" as reported in this column.

First, why they are so subdued to utter "Hindu identity" instead of "Indian identity" for the Indian nation state? After all, the world at large considers the Indian republic, inspite of its claim as "secular", as a "Hindu nation" since Hindus are in majority and "Hindu ethos" drives this state in fulfilling its democratic aspirations and functions  Remember, as noted by H G Wells in his "History of the World", the principles of democracy were well enschrined and established in practice during the rule of the Great Ashoke, some two and a half millenium ago, long before the concept of democracy germinated in the European civilisation..

Secondly, and more importantly, as Jagmohan (the past Governer of J&K) has noted somewhere in his writings,  the roots of Hinduism and hence of the Indian nation are in Kashmir and nowhere else.

Ayodha can wait, but what cannot wait is the restoration of the Hindu temples and shrines in Kashmir which were systematically destroyed post 1947 by the crusade of Islam and their followers  If RSS have guts and any morality, they should stand up for the return of the still surviving remnant Pandits in Kashmir as well as to rebuild and recover the Hindu religious sites there.

Until such time the RSS can come up for this as their core policy matters they remain morally and politically bankrupt. They will have no use for the right thinking true Indians and must be discarded as the show piece of Hindu cowardism.

Agreed, Tieffenthaler proves that Hindus were praying at that spot even after that three domed structure came up, it's only in the 1850s that Hindus were artificially restricted by the English and the Muslims from praying in the spot they had considered holy for centuries. It's good that Hindus did not roll over this time and took back their rights. Now to build the temple and complete the process, as a show of goodwill, a mosque can be created somewhere else in Ayodhya.

Then we can start talking about the Mathura and Kashi and the healing process will finally be over

My great Gradfather had a house. It was FORCEFULLY occupied by someone else. When I went to reclaimthe house he said - Show me the evidence. I broke into the house and produce that the house belonged to my Great Grandpa and hence must justfully belong to me.

Am I right or wrong?

Now apply this to Babri Masjid (though it gave all temple breakers to point a finger at hindus)!

Pankaj of KL .... "..... I broke into the house ...."

Ends don't justify the means. This is a basis of "rule of law" - as per "rule of law" of any modern developed nation, this would be unlawful, i.e., a criminal act. We are of course very far from any sembelance of "rule of law" but for those of us who want this, we have to start travelling on that path and hence cannot justify exception whatever we the merits or demerits. If the parties cannot negotiate, then the courts have to.

If ever there was a rule of law in India, we would not have been an underdeveloped country. Fact is that Rule of Law does not existin India and hence you have the Babri Demolition.
