The arrest of Mr. Partho Sarothi Ray has nothing to do with his being a micro-biologist. He was arrested because he was spearheading a movement against dismantling of illegal slums. Such jokers deserve to be behind bars, irrespective of their qualifications.

In name of poverty, people cannot be allowed to build and perpetuate illegal residency. And, there should be no effort by the government to rehabilitate them. Most of these "poor" will rent out the flats allotted to them by the government and go back to the slums. In this case, Mamata Banerjee is right.
